Casting Call

Casting, as in lost wax casting. This free-form pin was made using the lost wax casting method and is cast in manganese bronze with a pearl accent...and me just having some fun with the process. The design hints of organic forms such as flowers or leaves, even a lava flow. What a great accent for a sweater or a warm coat...can't wait to wear it!

Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend

Diamonds come in different sizes from "little sparklers" to large and ostentatious "rocks". They also come in colors like the rare and beautiful pink diamond. Here is a link to a story about a fabulous diamond find. Any gal would be lucky to recieve this stone. I'm going put that at the top on my wish list...a girl can dream!

Give Me a Ring

Give me a ring...it used to mean giving a friend a call, but does anyone use that phrase anymore with all the texting going on? That I am not sure of, but aside from the colloquialism, I thought I would share some actual hand made sterling silver rings. These were all made using the same basic pieces, a circle for the top and a rectangle for the shank. It was interesting to see how completely unique they turned out just by using different techniques.

The Big Let Down

Not every work of art is a masterpiece. Case in point is my experience with Aviary.com. It was not as fun as I had hoped and my "face swap" project ended up being just a combination of two pictures. This is the beginnings of what it would look like if the dog's head was on the cat's body. I thought it was a fun idea...the animals felt differently. Neither animal was thrilled about getting their picture taken. If they knew what I was doing with them, I am certain they would have had their revenge...or did they already? hmmmm...

A day in the life...of me hanging out at the bench and making jewelry when I can. The Google presentation shows the slightly abbreviated process from beginning to end. This piece of jewelry uses wire, ready made chain, and a jasper bead. All pieces are made of sterling silver.

Play it again, Sam. Yep, I'm using my urban landscape pictures to do a project for digital media class...again. This third and final time, using animoto.com. I uploaded my "Urban Landscape" pictures to create a short video and selected the song by Dannel Vonn Dillon titled,"Worn-(And Of Plastic)" to reinforce the idea of the deteriorating landscape of some urban areas.
